How to change your negative thoughts FAST | Part 1

This week, we tackle the negative thoughts that are keeping you stuck, the real reason you’re self-sabotaging, and how to shift into action with confidence.

In Episode 80 of The Time Management Podcast, we kick off a powerful three-part series all about stepping into main character energy.

If you’re tired of waiting to feel “ready,” tired of shrinking to keep the peace, and fed up with putting everyone else first—then this episode is for you.

The Thoughts That Are Wrecking Your Success

Ever caught yourself spiralling with worst-case scenarios, comparing yourself to everyone around you, or playing small to avoid conflict? These are automatic negative thoughts (ANTs), and they’re running your mind—and your life—on autopilot.

As Dr Amen mentioned on The Diary of a CEO, becoming the “ant killer” is about becoming aware of the story playing in your head 24/7. The first step to ending self-sabotage is to track your thoughts. Episode 33 of the podcast includes a thought tracking exercise that will open your eyes to the unconscious loops holding you back.

“Nobody wants to hear they’re sabotaging themselves. But that means you also have the power to stop.”

Fear of Failure, Fear of Success, and People Pleasing

Whether you’re afraid of being judged, messing it up, or standing out—there’s usually a payoff to staying small. We avoid visibility, keep the peace, and protect ourselves from discomfort, even when it keeps us stuck. This is especially common for people stuck in the procrastination/perfectionism loop, or those who suffer from people-pleasing and imposter syndrome.

Check out Episode 002 for more about The Procrastination/Perfection loop, and Episode 025 for Imposter Syndrome: The big secret nobody is telling you, and Episode 046 Imposter Syndrome: Is it a Trauma response? and finally Episode 044 Is People Pleasing a Trauma response? “You are the main character of your story. So if you’re not living like it—what’s really going on?”

How to Stop Catastrophising and Rewire Your Brain

Catastrophising is a trauma response that keeps you in fight-or-flight mode. It’s your brain trying to keep you “safe” by preparing for the worst. But here’s the truth: you are safe now. Using Byron Katie’s four liberating questions, you can challenge those doomsday thoughts and begin rewiring your beliefs through neuroplasticity.

  1. Is it true?
  2. Can you absolutely know it’s true?
  3. How do you react when you believe that thought?
  4. Who would you be without that thought?

“It’s not enough to know this stuff. Knowledge isn’t power—action is.”

Your Vibration Sets the Tone

Dr. David Hawkins’ work shows that every emotion has a vibration. Anger vibrates higher than fear, and joy higher than anger. If you want to manifest better, you need to feel better. That starts with choosing higher-vibe thoughts and surrounding yourself with support.

This is what the Magic May 25-Day Challenge is all about. Focusing on two clear goals, daily action, and a supportive group to keep you accountable.
